It's Never Too Late for an HVAC Tune Up

Oct 26, 2022

If it's been more than a year since a service appointment, its time!

It’s technically never too late for your heating and cooling system to be tuned up. However, damage and costly repairs may haunt you if you wait too long to get HVAC system maintenance. Let’s say it slipped your mind this past year, you didn’t have the time, the resources, or you moved into a home that hasn't serviced its heating and cooling system in a few years. With all the hustle and bustle of today's world, these are possible scenarios that you may encounter. It’s okay! As long as your heating and cooling system is not entirely inoperable, then it’s not too late to get it tuned up.

Benefits of Tune Ups

The main benefit to maintaining the appliances and units in your home is to prevent any significant damage, increase the lifespan, and save you money. With that said, it’s important to maintain your home’s HVAC unit. If you haven’t had a tune up in the past year or two, it’s better to do it now than never.

Cooling System

No matter the type of cooling system your home has, it must be maintained. Cooling systems are designed to circulate the air within your home and force cool air throughout to provide a comfortable indoor temperature. These systems have filters that can build up with dust and debris fairly quickly. If filters become clogged, it can cause your cooling system to work harder and possibly malfunction.

Cooling System Tune Up Process

During a standard tune up, AC unit filters are properly cleaned or replaced, which would prevent any kind of build up or damage related to dust and debris to occur. In addition, dust and debris build up in your AC unit will diminish the air quality within your home. This can cause you and your family to have allergy symptoms such as runny nose, coughing, sneezing, and irritated eyes. If air quality is a concern you may want to get your home tested and possibly install an air purifier.

Heating System

Summer ends and just like that you’re suddenly thinking about heating your home for the winter. Yes, the dreaded predicament we all feel as homeowners, the cost to heat your home during the colder season. Your home's heating system should be serviced at least once a year. Depending on the type of heating system you have in your home, there are several possibilities that could result if it is not serviced. Typically, this includes clogged filters, mechanical wear and tear, leaks, and more.

Heating System Tune Up Process

Without routine maintenance, your heating system could experience some or a lot of trouble. It’s critical that you keep up on scheduling tune ups, but don’t sweat it if it's been a while. As mentioned above, better late than never! During a tune up, your technician will take a look at the unit, its hookups, valves, nozzles, etc. They will clean the components and replace any parts that need replacing.

Tune ups improve efficiency, reduce costs, and prevent issues and repairs. Most importantly, getting your heating and cooling systems tuned up and inspected by a professional is the safest way to protect you, your family, and your home.
